Breaking the Power of the Past

To live in God’s good future, we must break the power of the past.

1. Name the blessing and curses of your family that impact who you are today.

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Exodus 20:5-6

2. Discipleship is learning to live fully in the new family of Jesus.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through Faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Galatians 3:26-27

But now that you know God-or rather are known by God-how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?

Galatians 4:9

3. Jesus wants to give you a great future out of your past.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Genesis 50:20
