My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:12

(Series Memory Verse)

It is fully human to experience loss.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

How we respond to loss determines our future.

A.) Cover it up.

B.) Grieve it.

The Three Steps of Biblical Grief:

1.) Pay attention to the pain.

He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

Luke 24:17-18

2.) Wait in the Confusing In-Between.

He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! …And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

Luke 24:25-29

3.) Allow the Old to Birth the New.

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

Luke 24:36
