From Despair to Hope

We live in an age of despair.

He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast.

Luke 24:17

Jesus meets us in our despair.

As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and

walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.

Luke 24:15-16

Steps to recognizing Jesus:

1.) Invite Him in.

But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost

over.” So he went in to stay with them.

Luke 24:29

2.) Do life with Him.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to

give it to them.

Luke 24:30

3.) Notice how you begin to come alive.

They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us

on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Luke 24:32

Action Step: I commit to follow Jesus for the first time today.
