The Gospel According to David

Partnership Weekend

Chris Honess, Lead Pastor

May 31, 2026

1. God is on a mission to establish his kingdom.

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 2 Samuel 7:12

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. Colossians 1:13

2. Plan A is the local church

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Matthew 16:18

3. We are blessed to partner together for it.

The King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: “Who am I, Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant-and this decree, Sovereign LORD, is for a mere human!

2 Samuel 7:18-19

Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”  2 Samuel 7:29
