What is Baptism?

Baptism is a public declaration that we have connected with Jesus and desire to live our lives for him. It symbolizes that like Jesus, who died, was buried, and lived again, we have died to our old way of life, and are now living a new life committed to and led by Jesus.

Why do we get Baptized?

Should I get Baptized?

Jesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.      -Matthew 28:18-19

Once we have believed that Jesus died for our sins and have accepted the gift that Jesus gave us of the forgiveness of our sins, Jesus wants us to let others know. He commanded us to get baptized as a way of identifying with him, of sharing how he changes lives by how he has changed ours.
If you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved from the punishment of sin.      -Romans 10:9

If you have connected with Jesus then the answer is YES. When you are baptized you are confessing that your desire is to follow Jesus. By being baptized you are obeying God and encouraging others. God will bless you for it.
