Some call the period of time from pre-teen to early twenties “The Tunnel” because it can be a dark place for us as we develop into the adults we will be. Isaiah 40:30 states “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall”. Junior High and Senior High exist to direct the youth that God brings through our doors to an understanding of who they are in Gods eyes. It educates them on the need for an authentic relationship with Christ and the need for the Holy Spirit’s guidance. By bringing the realization of “The Light” of God into these dark corridors of life in today’s youth, we can help them navigate in a much healthier God centered way.

Our Leaders come from all walks of life, from teachers to social work. All have a desire to see the youth in central New York connect with God in a deep and genuine way. Their training equips them for dealing with the particular issues that this ministry presents.

Grades 6ththru 8th can be a confusing time for the youth of today. Our culture consists of the bombardment of false images and lies about their personal identity and worth. Many times this results in hurt and loss over how they see themselves. That is why we have Junior High. This Bible based program teaches biblical principles during services on the weekends and continues on Tuesday nights in Youth Group. We use current relevant materials that build personal confidence, assurance in Christ, identification and development of Spiritual gifts.

During regular services Saturday night and Sunday mornings, 6th thru 8th come into the youth room for a Sanctuary video feed worship in a youth focused environment. We then have an age appropriate lesson using all sorts of visual illustrations and themed lessons featuring today’s TV, movie and pop cultural icons.

Even with weekend services the pressures of today’s culture can be overwhelming. So much so, that we provide a mid week dose of fellowship with our Tuesday night get together. This starts at 7pm and runs until 8:30pm. We start off this time with some “minute to win it” fun and then we have our “Bit of Fuel” sessions which include a selected scripture for the night followed by small group discussion time. The remaining time is set up with tons of fun from video games, music video karaoke to indoor and outdoor games (when weather permits).

In addition to our standard weekend and midweek meetings we also make sure to provide other activities outside of our building. INVITE-A-FRIEND’S are designed as bridge opportunities’ for our youth to invite someone who might not normally attend a function at the church. Things like Bowling, Movies at the mall, Ice Skating, Swimming, Laser Tag and Mini Golf bring youth together.

This ministry exists to provide a real, relevant, and radical environment for high school teens to connect with one another and Jesus Christ. Revelation 22:13 say’s that “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End..” We desire to be a place where a passion for Christ can be ignited within you. We also hope this is a place where your faith can be “refined” and strengthened.

We meet on Thursday from 6pm until 8:30pm every week. First we have our social hour hangout. This provides our teens with an opportunity to be themselves and hang with others in their own age group who are also exploring God. Snacks and rec-room games are provided weekly. We then have a time for worship and a teaching from one of the adult leaders or peers. These years set so much of young peoples lives that we strive to infuse God into every area of life for them. Learning to rely on God and his Holy Spirit are crucial to a healthy life. We know the numbers of young people that are leaving the church, and we will do all we can to curb that.
