You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart – Jeremiah 29:13
Jesus calls us to be radically generous.
“Freely you have received; freely give.”
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
“Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Generosity goes against the grain.
(It is killed by debt, greed, and fear.)
Generosity is released when we buy into a greater purpose.
“They begged us to take the money so they could share in the joy of helping the Christians in Jerusalem.”
2 Corinthians 8:4 (TLB)
“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything–all she had to live on.’”
How to start:
- Start tithing.
“I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty
- Give something to someone.
