Give to the Poor
by John Elmer, Lead Pastor
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13
When we follow Jesus we will do God’s works.
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Caring for the poor is God’s heart.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
When we serve the poor, our relationship with Jesus is enhanced.
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.
“Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.”
