- Families are made up of broken people.
. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . .
Romans 3:23 p. 1129
- When we say “I’m sorry,” we bring healing.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
James 5:16a p. 1219
How to say “I’m Sorry”
- Recognize your responsibility in the situation.
Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment . . .
Romans 12:3 p. 1137
- Be humble enough to admit it to the other party.
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,” God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5 p. 1223
- Do not minimize.
All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Matthew 5:37 p. 970
- Change behavior.
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
Matthew 3:8 p. 967
